In August 2012, I had the pleasure of being hired by Erin with eKate Photography to photograph Rachel and Rosie’s wedding. I joined her for a wonderful Glen Echo Park wedding and watched two beautiful women say, “I do”.
Rachel and Rosie each played on their separate college rugby teams, competiting against each other, but the summer after graduation, they were finally able to meet in person on an all-star team. They both say they hit it off immediately and just after a few short months were inseparable. They were engaged on the 4th of July and married a year and a month later. The lovely ladies exchanged their own written vows under a chuppah made by Rosie’s dad, which incorporated Rachel’s Jewish background.
The brides couldn’t narrow down a specific wedding color or even a couple of colors, so they used every color! And it totally worked! It was especially perfect both for summer and the wonderfully bright personalities these women have.
We loved their do it yourself (DIY) touches all throughout the wedding! And take a look at all the wedding blogs who posted our combined photos to feature this amazing wedding. They were featured in OneWed, The Modern Jewish Wedding, LoveToast Blog, 4 Real Equality Weddings and finally Capital Romance. Whew!
It was a special treat to participate in this ceremony with Erin, (eKate Photography), one of my all-time favorite photographers to work with – thank you again!
Congrats again to Rachel & Rosie! You ladies rock!!!
Guests used pins to mark a map to show where they are from — perfect since Rosie is a cartographer!
Rachel and Rosie created a polling place for guests to vote for their new last name. The winner was Wardley! (My favorite!)
Vows were exchanged among MANY family and friends inside the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park.
A few of our favorite portraits of the newlyweds from around Glen Echo Park!
After the ceremony, all the guests got to take a special carousel ride on Glen Echo Park’s historic 1921 Dentzel Carousel.
Some of the highlights of the reception were the awesome chocolate cupcakes, special cocktails and some of the couples’ favorite beers.
