I had the distinct pleasure of working with Jane Hampton Cook while we both served in the Executive Office of the President at the White House under George W. Bush. Our offices were directly across from each other and since we are both from the deep South – Jane is from Texas and I am a Mississippi girl – it wasn’t long before we became close friends.
Jane’s gone on to become a media commentator, public speaker, and award-winning author, and I was pleased she asked me to take her portrait for her latest book about John Quincy Adams and the War of 1812, “American Phoenix.”
