What does your wedding pricing include?

We know that comparing photographers is not easy: but we know when our couples choose us to be their wedding photographers, they want the best. Great photography is THE most important thing to them on their wedding day.

We take that responsibility seriously, we work our butts off, and we give you some of the most tender moments, breathtaking portraits, and amazing photography out there. We can also say out of all the weddings we have photographed over the past seven years – not one of our couples has divorced! We’re little good luck charms as well!

No matter if you need photography for a small intimate wedding to huge all-night party wedding, the fact is every wedding is unique, and so are the budgets and needs of our couples.

Most of our full-day clients choose 8 hours of coverage, 2 photographers, a engagement session and the high-res digital files  – which typically starts around $3850. Add-ons for our wedding coverage are endless: Albums, prints, framed prints, engagement party and rehearsal dinner coverage are just some of the options.

We want Vita Images to photograph our wedding! How do we book you?

Call 703.715.VITA or email us at! We will need to check your wedding date to ensure we are available, so don’t wait to get in touch.

Our dates start to fill in fast, especially during the summer and fall wedding season. To hold your date, you will need to select one of packages or have a custom package made up for you, sign the contract, and pay a retainer fee that is applied towards your final balance. All of this can be done through our easy online booking system – no stamps or driving required!

What does your wedding photography include?
Besides being there to photograph your wedding day, many hours go into planning and preparing to make sure your wedding photography is incredible!

We typically spend around 40 to 50 hours on each client and that includes meeting with you and/or your planner, a walk through of your wedding venue, talking with your caterer, working with you on a timeline of your wedding day, travel time, engagement sessions, shooting the actual event, culling through images, image editing, uploading images, archiving, blogging, social media sharing, administrative tasks, billing, print ordering, album designing and much more!

Once you book Vita Images, you get access to our exclusive online client lounge that has tons of information to help your day go as smooth as possible!

Are Jenn and Mike the photographers who will shoot our weddings?
Yes, you get the awesomeness of a Jenn (the witty redhead) and Mike (the zen-like thinker) plus one of our wonderful interns who assist us with lights, gear, and general running around.

We are storytellers and photojournalists so we naturally shoot as the day unfolds. We work with you to make sure we have time for wonderful modern portraiture and family photos.

We usually want to see the see the venue with you about 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding or talk with your event planner and/or venue. This helps plan out portraits, scout locations, and give us a better idea of what equipment we might need to bring.

Our client lounge has more information on timelines and what to expect on your wedding day.

Do you offer Engagement Sessions?
Yes, we love doing engagement sessions! It gives us a chance to get to know each other, grab a coffee or glass of wine and set off on a portrait adventure. Certain wedding packages come with an engagement session – or we can schedule a separate session if you live here but are getting married elsewhere.

We always include a guest reception book with our engagement sessions. It gives you the opportunity to show how awesome you guys are together and gives your guests a chance to write you best wishes and marriage advice at your reception.

We can also design a Save the Date card from your session as well. Digital files from your engagement session are available for purchase after the session if you would like to design your own cards.

Will you travel out of town? What is your travel fee?
Yes, we will travel!

We have shot weddings all over the Northeast so we are game to go anywhere outside of the D.C. Region within the U.S. We don’t typically do not go out of the country but ask us anyway – especially if you are getting married in the UK or Ireland!

Any wedding within 45 miles of our Reston studio is considered in town.

Any wedding 45 to 100 miles away is considered out-of town and will incur a $300 travel charge.

For weddings beyond 100 miles away, travel fees are calculated on a case-by-case basis depending on accommodations, rental car, airfare, etc.

When and how will I see my wedding images?
Our typical turnaround time for a wedding is about 4 weeks.  Our goal is always to finish as quickly as possible while maintaining wonderful quality.

We always put up a few images on our blog and/or Facebook within a week of your wedding. If you prefer, we can arrange to have the blog post be private3 or send you a private online gallery.

We like to meet with you before all the images are posted on your online proofs gallery, so you get the first peek at your wedding photos. It’s quite touching to see all the moments of the day at one time. You are welcome to bring your parents to the studio with you.

We will also go over choices for prints and albums and answer any questions you have about the process. It usually takes about an hour and many couples make it a date night or afternoon because we have many great restaurants near us in Reston. If you live out-of-town or don’t want to see the full take in studio first, then we are happy to go ahead and post them to your online proofs gallery.

We also offer wonderful Thank You cards from your wedding photos. We can turn those around within a week or two of your wedding.

Your guests will also get small cards at the wedding that will give them the information on how to access your password-protected online proofs gallery so they can order prints directly from there. The card will also have a photo from your engagement session on the front, so it doubles as a small keepsake from your wedding.

How many pictures do you take?
2 photographers x 2 to 3 cameras each = A LOT!

Then we use our expertise as photo editors and eliminate the blinks, the awkward expressions (don’t worry, we will leave the fun ones!), and the shots where someone photo bombed us. You will hear us take many photos at one time – the best way to make an amazing image is to have as many options as possible – and we’ll pick the best ones to keep.

How many images will we deliver to you? Depending on how long we were there and how much prep and reception coverage – for a full wedding day you will see a final edit of anywhere from 500 to as many as 1000 images.

Smaller weddings will have fewer images, of course.

We believe in quality over quantity and giving you the very best images of your wedding day.

Do you provide the digital files or the DVD?
Depending on the package you choose, we include the high-resolution, color-corrected digital files from your wedding day. We also provide a release granting you permission to make all the prints your heart desires.

We also give a print credit with every package so you can buy a big print or a collection of prints.


You have best intentions to print photos or design an album from the files and you know what – instead you are out enjoying life. Traveling, fixing up your new place, going to festivals… just being newlyweds.

Your DVD gets put in a drawer and 5 years later – you have no wedding photos on the walls. How do we know? – We hear it from countless couples and yes… we did the same thing ourselves!

We make sure every wedding has something tangible – prints or an album to show off how fabulous and in-love you were on your wedding day.

After all – how else are those descendants of yours going to see how cool you were in the 21st century!

Can we share our photos via social networking?
We provide a selection of watermarked photos on our blog and Vita Images Facebook page from your wedding that you can share with friends and family.
